Project 1
With this project I am very happy with the turn out of my AI creations. My original goal with this project was to create a series of different women in various earthy locations each resembling expression of emotions though landscape and colors. With Mid Journey AI I was able to generate many images using keywords like fire, ocean, rain forest, gold, sparkles, purple, and woman. What surprised me though was each AI creation all incorporated a woman with her back facing the viewer. With this, I decided to take those images of the woman's back facing the viewer and all collide them into their own individual series. I wanted to emphasize the idea of turning emotions during the woman’s prolonged journey. To do this, I took those images into Adobe Photoshop and added them into an animation collection. I tampered with the opacity and speed levels to create a fast pacing glitch and gof effect of the woman's Journey. In that series with the variety of the woman's back I had the first image first to show she is leaving her ‘protected’ home, then it displays her in the fiery strom out looking at a calm land in front of her, ending with the woman in peace with being in a meadow. For the rest of the series, I used the same Adobe Photoshop technique of glitching and making a gif of the images to show the full background story of each element of fire, rainforest, meadow, and purple ocean.
Project 2
After this project I have really enjoyed learning about Blender and creating a simple Google image into a realistic 3D moving animation. With the butterfly creation it was a good start for the reason it was an easy creation to make since having the bones move in a simple movement of up and down. With the butterfly I wanted it to move in a more looping effect. So to get that idea I had each wing move up and down in a sequence. I would start with the still position, move the wings up, and move the tail to the left. Then I would move the butterfly back into the start position of standing still, then move the wings down and move the tail to the right. By using a simple technique it really helped me learn bone movement and keyframes, in which this benefited me for my next creation of the hummingbird. For the hummingbird I did not want it to move in a loop effect, my goal was to have the hummingbirds move together as if they are communicating or playfully fighting. To get this I would move each bone at disprused movements and really just experimented with different twists and rotations I could make the bones do. Unfortunately, my idea was to add textures to my creations and the only way I could do this was to download other servers to add them. So I tried my back up experiment instead of learning how to paint into the hummingbird to give it a neon light effect. My paint on artwork in the end was not my favorite, but I am glad I now know how to color on Blender. Here is the link to the YouTube video that taught me how to paint on Blender… watch
With this VR project my original brainstorm was to clash both my hummingbird designs and butterfly designs that I made in blender. With that, I wanted to create a virtual zoo for the viewer to enjoy. I added a moving flower gif over the hummingbirds to create dimension. I unfortunately struggled with VR for the reason my terrain was glitching very badly. When I added the arches environment it glitched by having the floor at a very high level, covering my animals, and the arches themselves were very small and dispersed. With a classmate's help I was able to fix my terrain because she copied her code of the forests into mine. For the Zoo theme I was going for, I actually ended up liking the forest environment better since it was more realistic to have a butterfly and humming birds in a forest than a desert. I did struggle however with the butterfly floor level, I tried a series of ways to get the butterfly to rise above the ground, but the codes were not working. Overall, I did really enjoy this project and I am very happy with how the humming birds and gif flower box turned out. I really enjoyed combining blender and VR together to see my blender creatures really come to life. Despite the technical issues I faced with VR I had a great time playing around with Glitch, and I learned more coding techniques that grew onto my previous knowledge that I learned in Digital Art one.
Projection Project
For this project project my original idea was to print out two of my old colored pencil drawings and use Map Mapper to select the focal points of each drawing to add effect on to them. My idea completely switched up for the reason I did not learn and use MadMapper to the fullest with this technique. How my project officially finished was I took an image online of a Mona Lisa decoy and added into circles around that drawing of all my artwork combined. For instance, with Mona Lisa’s eyes I added pictures of different drawings of mine onto hers. Same for her nose, lips, cheeks, and other disputed areas of hers. Using MadMapper, for some of the eyes and other circles I used different effects like multiply, and luminance to change the filter with the original work and my artwork. This created more dimension and made the piece smoother by doing so. Lastly, I used Mad Mappers strobe effects around select circles to really make the piece pop for the viewer. For the other three frames I used my old work and edited onto it with MadMappers effects. For my painting of Lana Del Ray I added a blue filtered strobe to make it pop. And for the photoshopped college of the women in the car I added yellow stripes moving down to add more to the 60s vibe. Lastly, I uploaded A gif image of me that I made in Digital Art one. I enjoyed how all these works blended together in a colorful playful theme. This project was extremely fun for me since I had a lot of creative freedom to create new digital work, add on new effects to my old digital work, and even make my 2D painting come to life with MadMapper. I am so happy with all the knowledge I have learned from this class, it has been a great experience. And I am excited to continue my digital art journey. Thank you so much for a great semester!
